The K-4M adds a multimedia version to our wildly successful K-4 line of educational headphones. The entire K-4 series is designed ot meet the needs of small children. Most educational headphones droop when placed on their heads due to such a dramatic difference in size.  K-4’s are sized for proper fit and built to be tough enough to survive a year in the classroom. Shared headphones pose a significant sanitary risk, exposing children to viruses bacteria and parasites when the headphones are passed from one child to another in a short timeframe – i.e. the switching of classes. SchoolPHONES are a KID/Teacher friendly solution to the growing need to use headphones in the classroom.

  1. Do these headphones have a volume limiter? I’m testing headphones to be used in our preschool-second grade classrooms for volume as well as durablity.
    Thanks

    1. Dear Mary Kay,

We design SchoolPHONES to function normally at safe listening levels. This is a recipe more than a science. You will find that headphones claiming to be limited to an arbitrary 85dB do not provide usable listening levels unless they are circumaural (closed over the ear) designs with very good isolation from external sounds. This is because background noise levels in many classrooms exceed 70dB. A less than 20dB margin between background noise and signal is insufficient for good comprehension.

This “margin” is often referred to as audio “contrast”. It is why we design to EN50332. You may find the link below from the World Health Organzation helpful in your search:
